New DeXa.Net(a) Satellite Teleport in Brazil Connects Global Energy Companies; Information Security, Integration and Technical Consulting Integral to DeXa Suite of Services

SchlumbergerSema, the IT business segment of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB), announced it has expanded its comprehensive information technology (IT) infrastructure service offering, the DeXa(a) Suite of Services, with a new DeXa.Net offering in Macae (RJ), Brazil. As part of its continuing interest in Brazil, SchlumbergerSema has invested in a new satellite teleport facility in Macae (RJ) to enhance remote communications between offshore vessels and land-based offices in Latin America.
   
The teleport, part of the DeXa.Net connectivity solution, offers a secure, remote network infrastructure for data traffic among national and international sites, enabling private and corporate networks to communicate with remote sites where there is no telecommunication infrastructure already in place.
   
The new Macae teleport facility also serves the DeXa.Net Oil Partnering Network, an online collaborative community for oil and gas companies to facilitate joint exploration and production projects in strategic petroleum fields around the world. A new Brazilian Oil Partnering Network will soon be launched in Macae, serving Latin American and global energy companies. Originally developed in 1996 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the Oil Partnering Network securely connects business partners and suppliers operating in the North Sea, and has recently expanded worldwide in the major oil and gas production regions.
