The municipality  of  Macaé is formed of a rare coastal beauty, twined by diverse crystalline clean beaches , a real invitation for leisure activities. The largest and most populated  is Cavaleiros Beach, where  the main  restaurants and bars can be found. Pecado’Beach is ideal for surfing and bodyboarding, besides being an ideal site for line or scuba fishing.  Outstanding too is the Campista beach which is known for strong waves and currents  and the little Farol Beach with  150mts of rare beauty and tranquility.São José do Barreto and  Lagomar beaches  have also a lot of fish, but  Barra  Beach  does receive  a lot of  organic material from the Macaé River, and therefore it is unadvisable to bathe  there. Imbetiba and Forte beaches are very pleasant to  take a stroll or brisk walk.
